Alexander Springs
Alexander Springs makes for the perfect checkout dive for new divers, or a fun dive for Junior Divers and their family. It's nature's version of an outdoor swimming pool. The spring basin is enormous, almost 300 feet wide with an average depth of 10 feet. However, in the center of the basin, the spring vent itself reaches a depth of 25-30 feet depending on the water tables. There are some small caverns for the experienced diver to explore that make it an enjoyable scuba dive for all levels. There is a strong flow at the deepest part of the vent that novice divers should be aware of. There is a lot of marine wildlife here ranging from small Bluegill to turtles and catfish. The public facilities are well kept and they have a small gift shop with beverages and snacks. During the summer months the facility is very busy with swimmers, snorklers, and scuba divers a like as this is just such a nice place to spend a summers day at!
