The Trench / Outfall Trench
Located in 60 feet of water, 4 miles S of the Palm Beach Inlet, this is also referred to as “Moray Alley”. It is named because of the 15 foot wide trench cut through the middle of the reef. 2 large communication cables are in the trench itself with a third lying 50 yards south. Walls of 8 to 10 feet high through the coral have numerous holes that seem to attract a large variety of eels – moray, green, spotted, purplemouth and goldentails, as well as a variety of tropical fish. At the end of the trench is the old outfall pipe lying on a pile of rocks. It is a great site for underwater photography and a great novice dive site or part of a drift dive.
