Tug Orange

As part of the South County Artificial Reef, located in 45 feet of water about 11 miles from the Pass-A-Grill entry marker, the 100 year old tug is home to several Goliath Grouper and a very diver-friendly nurse shark. The Tug Orange was added to the South County Artificial Reef site in 2003. It was built in 1903 and was an 80 foot steel hulled harbor tug. The Tampa Bay Towing Co. donated the tug to the Pinellas County Artificial Reef Program. Although there is a list to starboard, the tug basically sits upright. A varied mix of marine life inhabits the wreck and seems to like being photographed.
