Gunsmoke

Located in 80 feet of water, about 20 miles offshore, this old shrimp boat has an array of old shrimp nets draped over her rigging. Partially collapsed and leaning to starboard, this site attracts lots of marine life and is a good site for underwater photography. The Gunsmoke was originally sunk in 1977 near Egmont Key surrounded by bales of marijuana. Stories tell that Coast Guard Divers found a man below-decks who had been shot in the head. Many say that the crew scuttled the vessel trying to avoid the U.S. Coast Guard. This is an interesting wreck site and has lots of marine life in residence.
