Radio Tower Pyramids

Located in 50 feet of water, this artificial reef was designed to attract marine life. 19 pyramids, each about 20 feet high, are formed from sections of radio towers once belonging to Radio Miami. Sometimes referred to as Antenna Reef – this spot off Miami Beach is great for the novice or for night dives. In 1988 Ben Mostkoff, the director of the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) came up with this design as an experiment to attract large numbers of marine life and provide a great artificial reef site for the Miami area. The experiment is a success and this site attracts large numbers of marine life both day and night – which makes this a nice night dive site.
