Mathew Lawrence Barge

Located in 50 feet of water in the Anchorage site, this 110 foot barge was sunk in 1995. Since it is shallow it makes a nice site for novice divers who want to view a wreck site. Snorkelers and free divers can get a good view of the wreck as well. This vessel became part of the Miami-Dade Artificial Reef Program and was named as a memorial for Mathew Lawrence, one of the founders of Aqua Video who helped develop underwater video camera housings. Mathew died in 1992 while diving on the wreck of the Andrea Doria. A plaque on the pilot house is dedicated to him. Great site for any level of diving and snorkeling as well as underwater photography.
