Alicia
Located in shallow waters just south of Long Reef in Biscayne National Park. The wreck is broken up with only the keel and some of the hull of the ship left. Novice site great for snorkeling as well. The Alicia was a 3 massed steamer 345 feet long. The ship hit the north end of Ajax Reef in 1905. Her cargo and most of the steel has been salvaged and the superstructure is collapsed into the surrounding reef. The site itself is great for underwater photography of marine life due to the large schools of fish, sponges, corals, lobster and eels. The Alicia is one of 5 wrecks in the Biscayne National Park “Shipwreck Trail”. There can be some strong currents in the area.
Notes: Marine Preserve, Wreck, Good Snorkeling
