USS Curb

Located 1 miles south of the Cayman Salvager in 185 feet of water is this 300 foot naval salvage tug. This is a site for ADVANCED divers only. This is a decompression dive due to depth. Access to the interior of the vessel is easy. There are some monofilament lines that may cause a hazard. Visibility is not assured at this site because of its closeness to the shipping channel and the fine silt layer surrounding the wreck. The vessel was once a naval salvage tug and was cleaned and prepped to be sunk for the artificial reef program in November of 1983. Divers can explore lower decks and may have close encounters with fairly large jewfish and also cobia. There are also some tropicals, tarpon, snapper and hogfish that call the site home. This is not a well-used site due to the need for decompression. Advanced divers only.
