The Sambo Reefs

Located 4 miles south of Boca Chica Cannel and marked on the east end is a pole as well as a black and white buoy with depths of 10 to 40 feet. This is a great novice dive site and is also houses a SPA site. Orange floats mark the SPA (Sanctuary Preservation Area) where no fishing or lobstering is allowed – but outside of the SPA area the lobstering is great. Lots of tropical fish, large elkhorn and staghorn corals and coral heads are visible. This area is also home to an Ecological Reserve which is a “no-take” zone. Be careful if you are collecting shells to make sure you are not in one of the protected areas.
