Ten-Fathom Bar

Located .5 mile due south of Sand Key with depths of 25 to 130 feet, this is one of Florida’s few mini-wall dive sites. Clear water and abundant sea life make this a great intermediate/advanced dive site. Anchor over the wall. This reef extends for over 4 miles and although it can drop to 130 feet in areas, the best areas to play in range from 40-80 feet. Deep undercut ledges provide homes for juvenile marine life. Large corals and huge barrel sponges can be seen. Many grouper in the area are desensitized to divers and will come beg for a treat. This is a beautiful site that is generally very clear visibility although there is the possibility of a fairly good current. Lots of tropical fish in the area as well as Eagle Rays, porcupine fish and lobsters are seen.
