Joe's Tug

Sitting in 65 feet of water on the sandy bottom, this is a good dive for all skill levels. Lots of photo opportunities with marine life and the broken structure of the 75 foot steel hulled harbor tug. Originally meant to be sunk off Miami, the cleaned and prepped vessel was pirated away from the dock and towed to where it now sits. Whether or not the sinking at that spot was planned is not known. The hull is in 2 parts after hurricane Georges picked it up and dropped it. The wheelhouse is almost destroyed but there are lots of notorious marine life – “Elvis” a large jewfish; a few curious moray eels and a pair of large barracuda who have their own patrol route set up on the upper structure. Lots of corals and schooling fish are in the area and it is a great photo opportunity.
