Christ of the Abyss

Located near Dry Rocks, 6 miles east-northeast of the Key Largo Cut within John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, this 4,000 pound bronze sculpture of Christ lies in 25 feet of water. Easily viewed by divers and snorkelers alike, this makes a wonderful photo opportunity. One of 3 statues by the Italian sculptor Guido Galletti the statue was donated to the Florida State Park Service by the Underwater Society of America in 1961. The donation of the statue recognized the efforts put forth to form the first underwater park in America.
