Union Express

Located 1.5 mile due east of the Pompano Pier in 110 feet of water. The wreck sits upright although the hull is broken. Great spear fishing site but be aware of very strong currents at times. Depth, currents and the open wreck are not for the novice diver. The 170 foot Union Express was sunk in 1992. The ship was a Dutch coastal freighter confiscated by US Customs for drug smuggling. She sits upright on a sandy bottom although her hull is broken. She is home to a resident large grouper, Spotfish, Amberjacks and Tarpon. Strong currents can be a problem at times but the spearfishing is good.
