CG Cutter Cape Gull
Located in 70 feet of water, the wheelhouse structure begins at 50 feet. This 95 foot Coast Guard Cutter was built in 1953 and had a career that included search and rescue as well as intercepting drug smugglers.
"The Cutter proudly served in the Grenada conflict and was deployed there in 1983 and 1984. She was decommissioned in 1988 and was scuttled in Dec of 1989 where she sits today as part of the artificial reef system in the Ft. Lauderdale area."
Special Note:
Some of the information on this dive site was provided by Steve M. of Chester, NH, who actually served aboard the CG Cutter Cape Gull from 1981-1984. Thank you Steve for the information and for your service to our country.
